Talabat Hosts First Edition of Annual Gala Dinner on World Food Day

talabat, the leading local tech platform, hosted the first edition of its Annual Gala Dinner last Sunday, on World Food Day at Triumph Luxury Hotel. The gala brought talabat Egypt’s thriving ecosystem together, including government officials, partner organizations, as well as restaurants and brands on the app to showcase this year’s milestones.

Commenting on the Gala Dinner, Hadeer Shalaby, Managing Director of talabat Egypt stated: “The gala was held in honor of World Food Day and our partners, who helped us grow by 100% since 2020, while we enable them with our technology. Connecting thousands of brands to millions of customers means that our data and insights can tell several stories. We leveraged that to curate an award ceremony that appreciates partners who deliver an above-and-beyond experience.”

The gala witnessed the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between talabat and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), represented by Dr. Raafat Abbas, Head of the Central Administration for Non-Financial Services. In line with the government’s efforts to support entrepreneurship, the cooperation works to enable brands on the talabatplatform to benefit from benefits stipulated in the SMEs Law, including temporary operating licenses and permits and tax breaks.

Furthermore, talabat held the first-ever round of its Partner Awards to recognize top performing brands for delivering a great customer experience. Notable award recipients included Starbucks for the “t-Star” award in recognition of their overall best experience, and Americana, Bazooka and El-Dahan for achieving the highest growth percentage on talabat in 2022. The ceremony will be held annually as an incentive for partners to continue enhancing their products and services to ensure customer satisfaction.

talabat additionally announced its expansion beyond food ordering with the launch of its non-food vertical during the event. The launch underscores the company’s commitment to enabling businesses beyond restaurants in expanding their footprint and enhancing their offerings through technology, while eliminating operational expenses of opening new branches. This includes: grocery stores, flower, electronic, as well as specialty stores.

The Gala Dinner intentionally coincided with World Food Day on October 16, one of the most celebrated UN days as over 150 countries unite to raise awareness around hunger and health. talabat plays an active role on that front, as in 2021 alone, the company facilitated the donation of nearly 1 million meals to those in need and over USD 2.2 million in donations to charity from customers across the region.
